Football Weekend

The last three days were a big football weekend for me. Unfortunately I missed my #3 son running in the regional cross country meet. But I got to watch #2 play Friday night, #1 coach Saturday, and the Cowboys continue to implode on Sunday night.
First, congratulations to Blake for being on the regional qualifying cross country team. For a kid who is not a good distance runner and doesn't particularly enjoy jogging, he stuck it out and got himself a letter-jacket and patch for the season. Now he'll be in better shape for basketball than his buddies who were on the football field all fall.
Friday night was disappointing when Brandon and his varsity football teammates failed to get a chance at a coin toss for a playoff berth. They need to win by 14 to force a three-way-odd-man-out coin toss for the 2nd and 3rd place playoff spots. Absurdity Alert: too many high school teams make it into the playoffs.
Saturday I drove to Canyon, Texas with my dad-in-law and #2 and #4 sons to watch the ACU Wildcats defeat the West Texas A&M Buffaloes. The Wildcats have not disappointed all season as the stretched their record to 10-0 this year. Bradley should have another ring for LSC champions. My voice is still not quite right from screaming DEEEEFENSE! It was well worth the trip. A nice palette cleansing from Friday night's game.
And Sunday night, the Dallas Cows were on TV for a national audience to watch the implosion. That's all I have to say about that.
